Women Leaders in Sports Podcast

Nov 18, 2018

Today, Patti chats with one of our industry’s brightest stars, Nina King, deputy director of athletics for administration, legal affairs, and chief of staff at Duke University.

Nina describes herself as “the most unathletic person in my family,” but her love of working in athletics administration was sparked as an undergrad at Notre Dame, when she got picked to be a manager on the football team and then the head manager for swimming and diving. It was at Notre Dame that she met Kevin White, the legendary athletics director, and the rest, as she says, is history. You have to listen to hear the story about how as an intern in the business office, Nina was asked by none other than Sandy Barbour to sit in for Kevin’s assistant. That was a move that cemented Nina’s future and helped her get to where she is today at Duke—which is more than a decade in working with Kevin.
